Key Points:
- Full-time position; work week is Sunday night through Thursday night
- Overnight shift starts at 6pm and ends when the work is complete
- Selecting is done using batch method, voice selection software, and labels
- Selectors are measured on productivity and accuracy
- All orders are selected using electric double pallet jacks; you must pass an equipment test and become certified to work as an overnight selector
Description of Essential Job Functions:
- Perform all pre-shift duties including warm-up and safety checks on all equipment
- Work in multi-temperature areas as assigned
- Meet weekly standards for productivity and accuracy while working in a safe manner
- Perform post-shift duties including clearing aisles of debris, returning pallet jacks to the charging area, hooking up jacks for battery charging, stacking empty pallets from slots in the aisle, cleaning up spills, placing damaged product in the recoup area, and completing any related paperwork
- Must be physically able to work in the freezer and the cooler
- Must be able to repeatedly lift more than 50 pounds throughout a shift
- Attend all required company meetings and adhere to all safety practices and company policies
- Satisfactorily complete all company-mandated trainings and assessments
Skills & Experience:
- Education/Training: High School Education or GED preferred
- Minimum one year of recent experience in a highly physical, labor-intensive warehouse selection position
- Minimum six months of experience with warehouse material handling equipment (electric pallet jack or high-low) preferred
- Extensive experience operating stand-up forklifts required
- Voice selection software experience preferred
- Must be able to read alpha and numeric codes from pick sheets and slots
- Must be team-oriented and able to get along with others
Compensation & Benefits:
- Training pay: $16.50/hour during the 2-week training period
- Incentive pay: $17.50+ after training, based on meeting productivity and accuracy standards
- Retention bonus over the span of the first year of employment (must meet attendance requirements and work safely)

- Unload & load freight off/on trailers; lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 50 lbs frequently and greater than 75 lbs occasionally)
- Must be willing to deliver to both upstairs & downstairs locations
- Provide customers with exceptional service
- Thoroughly match invoices to orders to prevent any shorts
- Safe operation of all company equipment
- Perform vehicle inspections required under section 396.13 of the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations
- Maintain a current Class A or B CDL
- Perform other duties as assigned
Delivery Areas:
- NYC + boroughs, NJ, PA
- Home every night
Skills & Experience:
- Ability to operate 26′ automatic straight truck
- Possess and maintain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License
- Must be 21 years of age or older

- Pass DOT drug test with no prior positive tests or refusals

Driscoll Foods is hiring night selectors at our Wayne, NJ facility to work in a busy refrigerated and frozen warehouse selecting items for our foodservice customers. Must have prior food distribution warehouse experience using an electric pallet jack.

Driscoll Foods is a rapidly growing, family-owned, independent foodservice distribution company. Employees must efficiently batch order select in our cold storage food distribution warehouse and palletize orders to prepare for loading. Must be able to follow prompts to locate correct slots, select correct quantities, and confirm with the system verbally. The system is bilingual (English and Spanish).
Schedule:
- Full-time overnight shift
- 4pm to shift end — overtime available
- Sunday through Thursday work week
Requirements:
- Eligibility to work in the US — two forms of valid ID required
- Prior experience with voice selection systems and batch labels
- Basic understanding of food safety and protecting the quality and integrity of product so all pallets ship in the required condition
- Attention to detail and ability to listen to and follow instructions to prevent errors
- Experience as an order selector within the food distribution industry (proof will be required)
- Ability to work in a cold environment (-15°F) with no restrictions
- Must be able to repeatedly lift more than 50 pounds throughout a shift
- Must have experience on the PE4500 Electric Stand-Up Pallet Jack
Preferred Skills & Abilities:
- Must be pallet jack certified
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to read load diagrams
- Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
- Team-oriented and able to get along with others
Physical Requirements:
- Sit occasionally; stand, walk, and drive continuously
- Lift 1–50 lbs occasionally; 50–100 lbs occasionally (80 lb max); never over 100 lbs
- Carry 1–10 lbs occasionally; never over 10 lbs
- Push/pull occasionally — pallet jack controls, trailer straps, cooler wraps, truck gates/doors
- Climb/balance occasionally — on/off pallet jack
- Stoop, squat, kneel, bend, and reach above shoulder occasionally
- Grasp and manipulate objects occasionally — pallet jack controls, pens, trailer straps, gates, paperwork
- Twist frequently
